Farewell Run
In late fall 2015 I joined a running group on a whim thinking I could maybe meet a few other moms here in DC. Little did I know what all would come from that decision. On the running side I ended up setting new PRs for a 5k, 10k and half and also completed my first marathon. I logged miles upon miles of running with these ladies discussing everything you could possibly imagine. But the friendship side is where I feel so lucky. Those mommas have been a support system for much more than running. If I needed to vent, they were there. If I needed pushed to complete the marathon, they were there. If I needed a babysitter, they were there. If I needed a mom's night out, they were definitely there.
So, for my farewell run I choose to run an easy 5 miles to a DELISH cupcake and coffee shop. It was a wonderful morning for me and I'm so thankful for these girls!

Father's Day
Well, this Father's Day was a bit strange. Derek had fallen in our Ohio house a couple nights before and ended up having a concussion so he wasn't really feeling that well at all. We did enjoy a nice, relaxing picnic on the National Mall and I rode the carousel with the kids instead of him due to his dizziness.
Then when we got home, I told him to take a nap while I took the kids outside for some fun in the sprinkler. Also, any mom who provides frozen treats in the summer is a good one, right?! :)

Kayaking the Potomac
We took Drew last fall and he LOVED it so much that we decided to do it one more time with Ady. I brought some snacks in case she wanted to stand up and try to jump ship but she did awesomely well and it was a perfect morning. I even brought a piece of bread which we fed to a pair of ducks who came within a few feet from our boat!
Definitely my favorite picture from the morning...

Lawyers Have Heart 10K
It was crazy hot, super humid and was a pretty hilly course, but I beat my 2010 10K PR by 7 seconds so a new PR it is for me! 1:02:03 this time. And last minute my girlfriend decided to run with me so that definitely helped! Can't wait for flat Texas. :)

White House Tour
We've tried for months and months to get a White House Tour but because they stopped them for a while this winter it proved quite difficult. Finally a date popped up so we grabbed the 2 slots. A girlfriend watched Ady while Drew was in school so that we could enjoy the quick tour sans the kiddos. It was really short and the house is much smaller in person than I had imagined! Still, so glad we got to walk through such a cool building who has house tons of amazing individuals... present one excluded.

Biking DC
DC has this awesome bike share program where you can pick up bikes anywhere around the city and rent them for however long you want only to dock them back up in a ton of spots covering miles and miles. I've wanted to have a bike date with Derek since we moved here so we did for his birthday! Unfortunately we had already sent our helmets back to Ohio so it was stupid but we risked riding without them. Anyway, we had wonderful weather and it was such a fun thing to do differently to see all of the monuments.
Then it was on to get some yummy BBQ and play miniature golf to celebrate the big 3-6! :)

Randoms
Ady has THE best teacher at her school. Mrs. Hurwitz. She's a legend there and you're VERY lucky if you get her. The activities and things she does for these 2 and 3 year olds is amazing. We've been told time and time again she's probably the best teacher our child will ever have and I kinda don't doubt that!
The car is generally loud with questions and singing and discussion but for 5 minutes the other day it was silent. And I looked back to see this. #swoon
Drew's poor baseball team has been rained out SO much this spring but at least they are cute!
He and his best buddy...
My 4-legged who is beyond patient with her 2-legged sister dragging her around...
And I never want to forget how she sleeps with her hands tucked behind her back...

US National Arboretum
One of the last places I wanted to visit was the National Arboretum so we did last weekend. It was huge, full of color and wore the kiddos out soooooo WINNER!
Actually columns that used to be located on the front of the Capitol...
