Is She Mine?

Over the past 9 months, one person will say she looks like Derek, but the next will say she looks like me! So I thought it would be fun to re-create this picture my mom took when I was 9 months old!

I also took a couple close ups for comparison with another 9 month picture of me in the middle:

What do you think?

With the exception of the eyebrows, I think she looks SO much like me! The chin, cheeks, nose and eyes are identical. We're on the fence about her skin but we'll see soon when she is under the sun more. I kinda hope she got my 'tans easy' darker skin and not the 'requires spf8000 skin' from Derek's side!

Ady // 9 Month Update

Oh baby girl. NOOOOO. I don't want you to be 9 months old!! Only 3 months left until you are 1?! Crazy. But anyway, just have to say that I love you so so much my little sassy worm. The smiles I get when you wake up or I pick you up from school are the BEST and although you have some spunk to your personality, you're still a pretty easy going baby that has the best laugh in the world.

Weight: 21 lbs 10 oz (90%)
Height: 27.5 in (49%)
Head: 17.65 in (75%)

Sleep:  You are just all over the place. Some nights you'll go 11-12 hours, but then other nights you still wake around 3-5a wanting a quick nibble. It's obviously the worst when you're cutting teeth or sick! Naps are still random but you're getting closer to needing just 2 a day.

Food: You tried a few new foods this month but the biggest change was that we started supplementing with formula at school. Mommy was still struggling with supply issues and decided to move on and add formula into the mix. I'm excited to not having to take 9 fenuegreek pills daily, eat oatmeal every morning and only get to pump 3 times a day as opposed to 4! I would say your diet is about 75% bm now and 25% formula. I do still love and cherish nursing you so very much and have no plans to stop that anytime soon.

Diapers: Still wearing FuzziBunz size medium.

Clothes: You are mostly in 12 or 18 month clothes with a couple pairs of 24 month pants.

Talk: It kinda feels like you're mimicking sounds more so we're working on that!

Teeth: You popped your 3rd and 4th teeth this month and now have 2 on top and 2 on the bottom.

Milestones: No crawling yet but you're working on getting up on your knees and rocking! We also had your first babysitter for a couple hours this month. We didn't have a sitter for Drew outside of family until he was over a year but we felt comfortable with one of your teachers from school to watch you guys!

I simply can't wait until the hot weather is here and you can show off your thighs on a daily basis. They are too adorable to be hidden under pants everyday! And lastly, you've turned into quite the drama queen. If you get put down on the floor, a toy has to be immediately in your reach or you get pissy. Also, if we take something out of your hand and it's the end of the world.... but cute.

A few chopping block pictures for this month...

And probably my favorite...

And for fun this month, let's do a Drew/Ady comparison! Thoughts?

Pearls and Pantless

The other week when I had my studio set up I couldn't resist snapping a few pictures of my chunk. There's something about baby rolls that just makes me explode with happiness. I had to make sure I got some good pictures to keep for decades to come.

The b&w picture below of her looking up at her daddy is so freaking sweet to me. Her little profile and her huge cheeks with eyes full of love for daddy makes me melt.

Although I couldn't get the coloration quite how I wanted, I couldn't resist trying the 'backside with stuffed animals' shot. :)

Have a great weekend!

Love for Lily

A neighbor of ours who has a niece with leukemia put together a benefit to help the family with expenses that insurance doesn't cover. It was at a bowling alley on Sunday and was an absolutely amazing thing to witness. I've said it before but this community we live in is the best. Pretty much every company around the area donated a gift or service and there was TONS to auction and raffle off. I even donated a mini photography session which helped raise some money for Lily! I'm not sure how old she is but I'm guessing probably 6-8ish. Regardless, it breaks your heart to see someone so young go through this. She was able to come for a bit but due to all the germs they had to cut her trip short.

Drew's absolute favorite part was spotting spiderman and superman walking around! There was a good 10 characters or so including those as well as batman, tigger, catwoman, elsa, ironman and more who normally visit sick children in the hospital. It was awesome of these people to do that for all the kids.

Ady did great hanging out in her stroller watching all the action but loved all the attention while we 'bowled' with her.

Lily is truly an inspiration to us all!

New Carpet!

I'm sure everyone is just ITCHING to read a post about new carpet, right?! Well I'm SUPER pumped about it so tough. :)

Anyway, we've been wanting new carpet in our playroom and living room since we moved in. But I thought the house was only a few years old, you ask. Right, but there was a stain when we moved in and it's builder grade, not-too-soft light cream stuff that showed EVERYTHING.

We went with Stainmaster and opted for the highest quality pad and I'm sooooo glad we did. I could sleep on the carpet it's so soft! But first we had to tear out the old stuff. After a couple friends told us it was pretty easy to DIY, we watched some youtube videos and decided it was worth saving near $250.

The smallest nugget was our supervisor while the bigger one played.

It actually turned out to not be too bad! For anyone that's getting new carpet in just a couple rooms, I'd recommend you save some mula and rip out the old stuff yourself! We aren't even that handy and thought it was pretty easy.

New pad:

And TA-DA! New carpet!

While we had to move everything, we also chalk painted our TV stand and bookshelf a light cream color to freshen up the room. You can see the tip of the black stand and brown bookshelf in the before picture above.

Here's an after shot with the lighter stand and bookshelf. Definitely freshens up the room! (bonus points if you spot the 4-legged kid)

Milestones Shmilestones

So what if my 4 year 3 month old can't color or paint within in the lines.
He loves coloring and it makes him happy.
That's all I care about.

And so what if my 8.5 month old doesn't have a 'pincer grasp' yet.
She can still get the food to her mouth and she's happy and healthy.
That's all I care about.

National Siblings Day

I posted on FB about my brother earlier today, and just posted last week about watching my kiddos play, but here's a few more pictures to celebrate National Siblings Day! Drew was bubbling Ady's tummy and she thought it was the BEST thing in the world. #swoon

(and yes, she does have toys, but she prefers to play with things like the tissue paper that she is holding)

Family Pictures From Easter

We have enjoyed having Gramma and Poppa in town for almost a week to visit us and we can't wait to see them again in May! Just had to post a few pictures we snapped on Easter Sunday...

At least Drew was looking and smiling...
Thanks for the adorable outfit Mimi!

Easter Weekend Recap

We generally have family in town for Easter and this year my parents and brother were in town for the Holiday! Although I wish it had been in the 60's or 70's, I'll take some 40 degree temps after this winter. It just means we had to do more indoor activities. First up was baking with Gramma!

Then we did some obligatory egg dying.

On Easter morning we opened baskets and then headed to church.

Drew got to hold a live bunny at church!

Drew also participated in 2 egg hunts, one with the neighborhood and the other in our backyard. I decided to only take videos on the camcorder this year instead of pictures but accidentally deleted them both. UGH. (Does this mean I'm already becoming an old fogie that complains about how confusing technology is?!) At least there was some sunshine to enjoy on our neighborhood walks we took to burn our 5,700 calories, delicious Easter meal!

And last but not least, the little man indulged in lego building a lot with Poppa.

I posted this pic on Instagram but had to put it here as well. (Sorry mom, don't kill me) Our kids napped a lot but my parents even snuck naps in as well. Hey, grandkids are tiring when you're over 60!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter as well!
