Women's March on Washington

The very next day I spent the same amount of time in almost the same location with thousands of people in support of Women's rights. Why did I decide to march this? For me, it wasn't anti-Trump. For me it was for the right that women can choose what to do with their own bodies. Period. My girlfriend had her sister-in-law and other friend in town and I was so glad when she invited me to tag along. We didn't make signs or get rowdy, just enjoyed watching how nice everyone was and listening to the celebrities talk their magic. But the most surreal part for me was just how different the 2 days were back to back. There was TONS of men in camo and cowboy hats on Friday and the city was swarming with rude people. On Saturday it was ALL peaceful and EVERYONE was happy and nice. Not saying anything other than that.

Presidential Inauguration

Soooo we went. Why? Because we are Americans and we wanted to see history be made whether we liked the outcome or not. Because we wanted to say goodbye to Obama, one of the best President's we've ever had and because we wanted to experience such a huge tradition in DC. Sure, we aren't Trump people, but he's our President not whether people like it or not.

Moving on.

It was hard. Very hard. I had to bite my tongue a LOT and didn't with one comment. I knew people would 'boo' Hillary but doing that toward the President no matter which side your on is downright disrespectful and rude. But, overall, it was a fine experience and we had decent weather which is historically not how it goes! We left the kids with a sitter that morning and head down knowing we'd spend the entire day down there. Security wasn't too bad and it only sprinkled for a bit despite showing LOTS of rain on the radar. Here are some iPhone pics from the day...

Bahamas Round 3 of Pictures

These pictures were all taken the last 2 days of our trip spent at Atlantis. I thankfully grabbed a waterproof case for my phone last minute so we were able to take it on rides and capture the fun all day!

We literally were walking to our gate when the news broke about Ft. Lauderdale. And guess where we were supposed to fly in to on that flight? Yep. Ft. Lauderdale. Needless to say we spent a LOT of time in the airport on that Friday and were finally re-routed through Tampa. Thank goodness for an awesome Uncle who helped entertain letting Drew climb all over him and Ady put stickers everywhere.

Finally at 1am we walked into the house. It was late but we were just glad to be home safe and sound and have avoided the entire Ft. Lauderdale crime. There was a lot less getting frustrated that day and a lot more hugging.

Bahamas Round 1 of Pictures

For Christmas this year, my family decided that we were tired of finding quality, meaningful gifts and that we'd rather have TIME. So, the adults didn't purchase any gifts for each other and instead spent the money to travel. We spent a week in the Bahamas and had a wonderful time! We stayed the first few days at a house we rented and then moved over to Atlantis for some waterpark fun. It was an amazing time with the 6 people that I love the most in this world and I can't wait to get back on a beach again. We went on jet skis, hit up the top rated fish fry hole-in-the-wall restaurant (AMAZING food), sent mom and dad on a sunset sailboat dinner cruise for their birthdays, enjoyed some new fun family games, played tennis, had drinks out of coconuts, ate some fabulous food and spent a ton of time on the beach playing in the water and building sand castles. Poppa even found a sea cucumber for us to see and I found a couple big urchins the kids watched move around and we saw a variety of fish in the water!

Here are some of my favorite pictures from the first half of our trip...

Stay tuned for round 2 of pictures...
