1st Winter in Texas

So far it's been awesome. Generally in the 50's but some days with highs int he 60's. That being said, we have had a few pretty chilly days with the 'real feel' this morning at 12 degrees! We have actually had to break out our winter coats a few days and even had a day where the roads were a bit icy. But, for the most part, it's been amazing and I pretty much never want to live up North again!!

Stinker

Since the stinker and I have 2 days a week together, she unfortunately gets her picture taken a lot more than Drew does. And I'm assuming next fall when she's in pre-k 4 days a week, the baby will overload this blog. I guess that's how it goes, right?!

Anyway, I loved catching her watching out of Drew's window the other day. She thinks it's hilarious to sneak into his forbidden room.  :)

She also tries to help with Derek and my puzzle...

But no matter what, her sidekick can often be found by her side...

Drew's Birthday Weekend

To start off his birthday morning we had some awesome and delicious donuts made by a little local shop. He loved them along with the 24 balloons mommy blew up and the crate paper I hung from his doorway!

Daddy and I got to also eat lunch with him at school which he loved as well!

Then on Saturday we had a birthday party for a bunch of buddies and he chose rock climbing this year. He did awesome almost making it to the top and they all had a blast!

Daddy also had to have his shot at some climbing. :)

Who doesn't love pizza and cupcakes for their party?!

Texas Can Get THIS Cold???

Last week we had a TEENY 96 second snowfall! We literally threw on our jackets, ran out back and enjoyed each of the 17 snowflakes that fell before it was over. And then today, when we woke up, it felt like 5 degrees outside! FIVE! I didn't even realize Texas could get this cold.

Brownies

A girlfriend had a baby a couple weeks ago so we offered to take her a meal and what is a good meal without a dessert? The kiddos loved helping and Ady looked super cute in her new Matilda Jane apron she got for Christmas!

And yes, we taste tested them and they were DELICIOUS!!!

Drew // 7 Years Old

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREW!!

Goodness what a year it's been! We moved you to Texas, which you took like a champ, and you are now in 1st Grade. This year you jumped right in to soccer, basketball and I'm assuming you will with baseball too. You LOVE being out front riding your bike or scooter or just running. For some reason you love to run everywhere you go, it's almost hard for you to walk! Oh, that and skipping. You LOVE to skip... even in basketball. :)

But your brains are where I'm most proud. Just a couple days ago you were sitting at Ady's dance class with me and I accidentally brought a Step 3 instead of a Step 2 book. You said it would be too hard but by 32 pages in, you had asked me for help on only about 5 words. I had tears in my eyes I was so proud. When you started school you were reading but your improvement over the past 6 months has been drastic going from Level 1 to 3. You also have become really fond of math and science and love doing experiments with random things.

You're also still a sensitive soul although you're finding your voice more and more with friends. I see you often trying to be the class clown which is ok, for now, but hopefully it doesn't turn into anything more. You still seem to go with the flow as opposed to be the leader of the group and that can be both good and bad!

Lastly, your coloring and drawing this year have gotten awesome. Like, REALLY good! You also like to sketch pictures and I love watching the creativity flow from your mind. Oh, and questions. Whew. We still get 86 questions a day but I know your brain is gathering it all so I try to answer each one but MAN it's hard sometimes! Either way, my favorite part of the day is listening to you read to me at night where sometimes we pause and watch a funny video. You still win for the best laugh in our family and I love love love hearing that noise.

Can't wait for your party tomorrow and I hope you know how much I love you and how special you are to me!!!!

Bailey Bear

Just another post about our 1st born as we've noticed lately her transition to 'old dog'. She's still an amazing dog, we just notice her slowing down a bit. I  had a chat with her last week and did mention she needs to stick around for at least another 5 years. :)
