Sprinkler Fun

Knowing Derek's parents were going to be out of town for 2 weeks on their 40th anniversary vacation and that Derek would be traveling for a week in there as well, we had my mom come join us in DC to help with the kiddos and keep me company! First up was an afternoon in the sprinkler!

Dewey Beach

We spent a few days on Dewey Beach a couple weekends ago and although it was one of the hottest days of the summer, we had a blast! Thank goodness for beach tents though! I dreaded lugging my camera to the beach so here are some shots from the first afternoon there...

The rest are iphone snaps but we spent 3 days on the beach, tried some new restaurants, rode the Jolly Trolley and had ice cream (duh!)!

The last evening was spent at FunLand where the people watching is awesome but the rides are plentiful.

Happenings

I would say that we've been in our swimsuit for about 60% of the summer. Weather we're at the pool, in the sprinkler, at a splash park or at the beach, it's been a great one.

We've also been sitting on the potty more and more and have gone duece a few times now! We're not forcing it on her at all and plan to just do it casually but hopefully before winter time she'll be fully out of diapers!

Derek and I also enjoyed a morning date paddleboarding on the Potomac. It was perfect weather and a neat experience. Fortunately I didn't fall in but Derek did... maybe because I told him to look up at a bird and he lost his balance. ;)

Washington Nationals

We've gone to an annual Indians vs Royals game for the past 6 years but unfortunately the Royals don't come to DC often. Our friends, however, had 4 extra tickets for a Nationals/Indians game and we were excited to go. The seats were amazing and a huuuuuge bonus; they were in the shade as it was hot as balls that day!

Thanks to snacks and ice cream we made it about 2/3rds the way through the game...

Drew's Summer 2016 Camps

This year we decided to do camps every other week. The first was done through his preschool so he was with all of his buddies and it was really just like an extended week of school for him. Then he did a traditional camp where they make crafts, go swimming and play sports. He didn't know anyone there but said he had fun. Then he took Lego camp with a couple of his buddies followed by tennis camp where he didn't know anyone once again. I kinda didn't mind having camps this summer where he didn't know any other kids as that's exactly how Kindergarten will be soon!

Then our last camp of the summer was soccer where 2 of his buddies from preschool were with him. Although it was only 2 hours a day, he still had fun and napped like a champ every afternoon!

Happy Birthday Bailey!

2 days late but not forgotten! My girl turned 9 on Tuesday and is still the best dog in the world. Without a mean bone in her body and so tolerant of our 'Ady-nado', she's my best buddy and I'm so thankful for her.

Uncle Mike

My brother came into town this past weekend and the kiddos were SUPER excited to see him. They pretty  much don't let him out of their site while he's here and Ady HAD to hold his hand everywhere she walked. It was adorable, they love him tons and he loves them tons. We played tennis, went to the pool, ate at our favorite BBQ restaurant and even visited the Air and Space Museum all in less than 2.5 days!

Mike gave Ady a doctor kit for her birthday and she loved it!

Derek and I even got to take him to a very well-known whiskey bar stocked with hundreds of different kids of whiskey!

Then before he left we drove him around a bit and visited the Capitol and then National Cathedral!

See you in December Uncle Bean!
